Computer-assisted Translation
Computer-assisted Translation, computer-aided translation, or CAT is a form of translation, where a human translator is assisted in the translation process by computer software designed to support and facilitate the translation process. It helps to increase translations consistency, retain the original format, protect code, and handle terminology so that it is consistent at all times. These tools facilitate the creation of terminology data bases, unified translation memories and glossaries.
At TRANSLATIONS BG we have been working with various CAT tools since the very beginning of the company, and all of our team-members have significant experience with such tools.
Currently, we use the following software tools:
Translation, proofreading and editing stage – Trados Studio (all versions), SDLX, XTM, MemSource, Passolo, MemoQ, Translation Workspace, IBM Translation Manager, Wordfast, LocStudio, Hellium, Idiom, Alchemy Catalyst, PO Edit, LEAF
Terminology creation and management – SDL MultiTerm.
Language Quality Assurance Tools – Xbench, QA Distiller, Linguistic Toolbox (LTB), SDL Trados Generic Tag Verifier, SDL Trados QA Checker.
For the time being the communication and exchange of files between our Project Management Department and freelance providers mainly takes place via e-mail, cloud services or our FTP depending on the size of the files.
