Capacity and Future Development

During the period 2007 – 2023 our teams translated and reviewed around 65 million no match source words from English into Bulgarian. The total number of words that all partners involved in the merger have translated since 1998 is approximately 120 million. Currently TRANSLATIONS BG can handle the translation and editing of 12000 – 15000 words per day, which include the full process of project management, translation, editing, proofreading and final quality assurance prior to the handback.

We maintain a pool of native in-house translators, as well as offline translators, external localizers and consultants for specific areas that are available on ad hoc basis. Thus, we can also gather a solid team for larger projects on request. In any case we are never to compromise quality for quantity, as this would contradict our main goal.

We have developed a system of selecting our translators based not only on previous experience and language skills but also on certain indicators (logical and abstract reasoning, attention to detail, ability to follow instructions, etc.) that we believe to predetermine each of the candidates potential for a successful career in translations.

For this purpose we have created a set of tests, run in two eliminatory stages, very similar to those that EPSO is using to recruit translators for the European Union institutions. For example, our last competition has attracted some 167 applications – a very wide pool of candidates out of which a single person was selected.

The recruited translators are being consequently trained which enforces the easier application of our consistent style of translation that has shown its sustainability over the time. This model has proved to be very successful and we are currently working on its replication for other target languages.
